Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: To close daily activities, accommodate guests, perform front desk duties, handle reservations, and provide quality customer service

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Closes and balances computer daily transactions.
• Double checks shift closings.
• Performs “bucket check”, i.e. reviews daily guest registration cards and compares against computer entries.
• Prints registration cards.
• Closes out credit card machine.
• Prepares housekeeping keys report.
• Straightens out lobby area.
• Ensures complete guest satisfaction.
• Handles complaints, caters to customer’s needs.
• Follows all front desk policies.
• Registers and assigns rooms to guests.
• Issues room keys and room directions or escort instructions.
• May transmit and receive messages via switchboard.
• Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests, dining and entertainment, and travel directions.
• Keeps records of room availability and guest’s accounts.
• Computes bill, collects payment, and makes change for guests.
• Takes and confirms room reservations
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Knowledge of customer relations practices in the hospitality industry.
• Knowledge of accounting/auditing procedures in the hospitality industry.
• Skill and ability to handle room registration, reservations, and switchboard operations.
• Skill in using computer and reservations software.
• Basic math skills. Good cash-handling skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• (6) months hospitality service/auditor experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Standing-60% / Walking-30% / Sitting-10%; Hotel front desk setting.
• May require long periods of standing.
• Lifting and carrying required.
• Required to work graveyard shift, 11pm - 7am.
• May be required to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
