Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for developing and placing Clean Energy and Tech training program graduates in jobs upon completion of their training. Develops and builds employer relationships in the Clean Energy and Tech industry. Promotes the program, identifies available job opportunities, refers candidates, and supports successful long-term placement.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Establish an industry-wide employer database to develop Clean Energy and Tech jobs for the benefit of Career Connections participants. Initiates and maintains ongoing professional relationships with local businesses and industry representatives in the sector as well as job placement/training agencies to promote participant job placement.
 
  • Make cold calls to potential employers; explains the value of the training and job placement support services provided by the programs addressing employer’s specific staffing and training needs.
 
  • Research digital and print media, agencies, and other sources for job leads; collects data from employers related to job orders including job specifications, duties and responsibilities and required skills.
 
  • Match job openings with qualified applicants and refers candidates for consideration. Follows up after the interview and provides applicants with feedback.
 
  • Assist participants in assessing their job skills and interests; support participants in job-seeking skills including online application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation, job retention skills, and workplace readiness. Facilitates job search/career information workshops and presentations as needed in various locations.
  • Participate in outreach activities in support of networking and job development in the Clean Energy and Tech Sector. Maintains a current calendar for industry and community events and attends as appropriate.
  • Provide program information to various businesses and updates information as needed; coordinates business orientations; maintains contact with and assists in researching problems, complaints, or concerns; provides networking opportunities between agencies.
  • Keep a current level of knowledge of trends in the clean energy and tech labor market, job development/placement field, employment law, and supportive community resources available.
  • Attend meetings, and maintain contacts with various trade schools and professional/community organizations involved in job placement/training activities.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with grant funders’ protocols, SIJCC policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Document and maintains complete and timely records of all work activities including outreach, attendance at events, contacts with participants and employers, follow-up activities, and outcomes.
  • May be required to perform other related job duties assigned by the supervisor.
OUR REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate degree in business, human resources, marketing communications or comparable field Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 + years’ experience doing job development and candidate placement for a private or public sector agency including private sector search firms, or publicly funded agencies involved in workforce training, development, and job placement
  • Knowledge of clean energy and how it is being harnessed to address climate change action and support economic growth is highly desired.
  • Principles of marketing and public relations a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of digital and social media marketing and recruiting and basic internet research techniques.
  • Must have excellent verbal, and written communication skills and strong interpersonal and networking skills to initiate develop, and maintain relationships with employer prospects as well as program participants
  • Experience working with companies in the Clean Energy and Tech Sector, construction/renovation, or comparable environment, is highly preferred.
  • Keeps abreast of local labor market trends and employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors in the NYC metropolitan area.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds of the community.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; willingness to travel locally using own transportation to conduct work assignments.
