About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to join our Executive Leadership Team. The CAO will work closely with the CEO to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy encompassing marketing, volunteer engagement, and fundraising efforts to advance our mission and vision. This role is crucial for achieving our strategic goals and includes three primary objectives:
Fundraising Strategy: Develop a holistic fundraising approach that increases overall revenue, diversifies funding sources, and strengthens both public and private partnerships while maintaining and nurturing existing relationships.
Community Relations: Create and implement a bold community relations and storytelling initiative that enhances our reputation and presence in the community.
Volunteer Engagement: Focus on expanding volunteer involvement as a means to enhance our fundraising efforts and community presence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team to achieve shared organizational goals.
Inspire and mobilize the Advancement team with ambitious, innovative strategies for greater organizational impact.
Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture emphasizing teamwork, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Lead talent management efforts, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Promote ongoing professional development and learning within the team.
Fundraising Strategy and Execution
Lead the development and implementation of systems that promote cross-departmental collaboration to exceed fundraising goals.
Create and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, annual giving, and planned giving strategies.
Cultivate and steward vital relationships with corporate partners, foundations, and individual investors to support growth and sustainability.
Monitor and report on fundraising data to assess progress and inform strategic decisions.
Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement
Design and implement a comprehensive program for volunteer recruitment and engagement.
Strategically assess and enhance recruitment efforts, addressing challenges proactively.
Utilize external partnerships to expand volunteer initiatives and involvement.
Communications and Marketing
Serve as an enthusiastic advocate for our mission in external interactions with donors, partners, and the community.
Guide the messaging for public relations and marketing efforts to elevate awareness of our mission and activities.
Develop strategies to leverage marketing for resource development, including recruitment and relationship building.

Qualifications
A passion for and understanding of our mission.
A bachelor's degree is required, along with training relevant to the role.
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in development, marketing, sales, or management; experience in nonprofit settings is preferred.
