The Building Design and Construction Division
The Building Design and Construction Division of San Francisco Public Works, led by the City Architect, provides architectural and landscape design services, comprehensive building planning, project and construction management, contract support and compliance monitoring, materials testing and hazardous materials investigation for the development of new – and the upgrading of existing – civic buildings, facilities and urban landscapes to create a more resilient city.
Public Works currently has a vacancy for the position of Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Superintendent (7120) within our Building Design and Construction Division (BDC).
As a Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Superintendent, you’ll oversee personnel responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and repairing a group of buildings and their surrounding grounds. This includes managing physical properties, machinery, equipment, and other relevant indoor and outdoor facilities while ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.

Experience:
Eight (8) years of experience operating, maintaining and repairing a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration and related plant machinery and systems found in large industrial, production, commercial or institutional buildings; of which four (4) years must have been in a supervisory capacity directing the operation and maintenance activities of subordinate personnel.

Valid Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid Class C State of California driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit them from legally performing the essential functions and duties of the role.
