Job Description Summary:
Oakland University, School of Music, Theatre and Dance, invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Music (applied trumpet) to join our instrumental faculty in a growing program, beginning January 1, 2025. Primary responsibilities: teach graduate and undergraduate applied trumpet along with brass methods, chamber music, repertoire, and pedagogy courses. In addition, other opportunities based on candidate's qualifications may include: performing with resident Oakland Symphony Orchestra, serving as jazz area coordinator, directing a jazz ensemble, and assisting with our youth brass band. It is strongly preferred that candidates possess a Doctoral degree in Trumpet Performance ( ABD considered), or related field, experience as a teacher and performer at the University level, and familiarity with cornet performance practice to facilitate instruction in our award-winning Oakland University Brass Band. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue growth and success in their performance career, while maintaining a strong commitment to teaching, recruiting/retention, and service to the field. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
