Accounting Manager (Residential Real Estate)

Job Description:

A privately held real estate development, investment, and management company seeks an Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
• Manage and supervise a team of accounting professionals
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making
• Perform financial audits to ensure compliance with regulations and internal controls
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
• Monitor cash flow and manage working capital
• Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting and forecasting processes
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions
  

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles and practices
• AppFolio experience is a big plus. Will also consider Yardi and MRI experience
• Must have residential real estate experience
• Ability to interpret financial reports and analyze data for trends and insights
• Proficiency in cash flow analysis to optimize liquidity management
• Experience in conducting financial audits and ensuring compliance with regulations
• Familiarity with payroll processes and related tax regulations
• Ability to forecast financial performance based on historical data and market trends
• Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, including revenue recognition, expense allocation, and asset valuation
• Proficiency in using accounting software for data entry, reconciliation, and reporting purposes
• Knowledge of corporate accounting practices, including inter-company transactions and consolidation
